You know, I found it funny that so many people blamed JR for his mistake in the final possession. I was walking in New York City yesterday and overheard two people talking about his play, believe it or not. He shot badly in the game and that's no doubt his fault, but he actually did well in the final 4.7 sec since he got the offensive rebound! Normally, the play should be like this: Hill attempted two free throws & Kerr had ordered a time out immediately no matter Hill made them or not. Normally the tall & big GSW defenders (KD standing next to the hoop & next to JR, Green at opposite side) would box out the opponents and grab the rebound. Unfortunately, KD was not as prepared as he should be, and JR bumped him heavily so JR got the ball instead. At that time, he was surrounded by 3~4 GSW players (with KD & Green in front of the hoop) and there was only one big opening in front of him, so he instinctively tried to protect the ball by dribbling his ball towards that opening to get away from all these GSW players and found a chance to shoot. Remember JR is a shooter by heart, so his play is kind of intuitive. You can see the replay about that situation. Now of course, his play could be stupid, but it's still better than if the GSW got the rebound (normally), called time out and with 4.7 sec left could have scored and beat the Cavs during regulation time! ... |
